ABB to acquire Sensorfact expanding its digital energy management offering
ABB is acquiring Sensorfact BV, a fast-growing energy management company headquartered in Utrecht, Netherlands. The acquisition further expands ABB’s digital energy management offering and is expected to close in Q1 2025. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Established in 2017, Sensorfact offers a scalable software as a service (SaaS) solution that helps small and medium sized enterprises use AI in their operations and energy management to lower costs and increase efficiency. The company has more than 250 full-time employees in Utrecht, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Berlin and serves more than 1,900 customers across Europe.
Sensorfact’s SaaS solution includes plug-and-play sensors that measure consumption on machine-level and connect to a smart software platform. The company uses algorithms to analyze the data, identify energy-saving opportunities and provide easy-to-implement advice that is unique to each customer’s operations.
Sensorfact raises €25M investment round to improve resource efficiency of industrial SMEs
Sensorfact has successfully completed a €25 million investment round. The round was led by the European growth investor Blume Equity, with participation from existing investors FORWARD.one, Korys, and SET Ventures. The investment will help us to further fulfill our mission of enabling a more efficient and sustainable industry.
In July last year, the European Commission presented the ‘fit for 55’ package, which aims to achieve a CO2 reduction of 55% in 2030 compared to levels in 1990. As a result, companies have to deal with increasingly strict regulations. Energy prices have also risen sharply in the past year, reaching a record high last December.
Dutch-based Sensorfact raises €13M to help industrial SMEs reduce their energy consumption
Sensorfact, a Dutch-based startup, has raised €13M in funding to help industrial SMEs reduce their energy consumption. The company’s Intelligent Energy Management System (IEMS) provides an easy and affordable solution for industrial SMEs to monitor and reduce their energy consumption. With wireless, non-invasive energy sensors and a web-based analytics platform, customers can access real-time insights into energy usage and receive targeted energy-saving advice. Sensorfact claims to help organisations save up to 15% on energy bills and has already achieved savings of around 100 GWh, equivalent to the annual energy consumption of over 30,000 households. The funding will be used for further product development and expansion into the DACH region, with plans to expand sensor capabilities to include steam, temperature, and vibration sensors for predictive maintenance. As the EU aims to eliminate industrial energy waste, Sensorfact’s technology helps companies comply with increasingly strict regulations and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
